Accra, Aug. 25, GNA - Miss Mawuse Appea, Miss Ghana 2008, over the weekend paid a visit to the offices of LG-Somovision at North Kaneshie, to express her gratitude for their continual sponsorship for the Miss Ghana pageant every year.
This year, the company, which deals in digital media and household appliances, supported the pageant with items such as refrigerators and home-theatres of different kinds that went to the beauty queen, and the 1st and 2nd Runners-up in the competition. Miss Huberta Quartey, first runner-up and Shirley Nwagere, second runner-up, accompanied the beauty queen to the offices of LG-Somovision to also familiarize themselves with the operations of the organization. Mawuse said for reign as the 2008 queen, she would concentrate on creating awareness on Hepatitis B, since it was a dangerous disease killing millions of people silently. "It is my passion to make people aware of this dangerous disease and let them do voluntary testing to know their status, because it is a fast killer," she said.
Mawuse received as her prize a "top on the line double door refrigerator and a home-theatre, while Huberta received a 29-inch ultra slim television and a home-theatre. Shirley also received a 21-inch ultra slim television and a home- theatre. Mr Pallav Rastogi, a Senior Manager at Somotex Ghana Limited, a branch of LG-Somovision, who presented the items to the beauty queens, said they were all new products with high quality from LG-Electronics. He said LG-Somovision was committed to supporting programmes that brought out talents of young people, hence the continual support of Miss Ghana Beauty Pageant.
