Rebecca Asamoah, second runner-up of Miss Ghana 2015 will represent Ghana at the 2016 edition of Miss Africa Continent pageant scheduled to take place in Johannesburg next week.
Miss Africa Continent is a pageant not only aimed at showcasing the beauty of Africa but to also advocate for change amidst the continent’s challenges that include disease, poverty, high mortality rates, xenophobic mentality and a lack of education. The pageant is currently touted as the biggest beauty event to ‘hit’ the continent.
It will take place on Saturday, April 30 at the Lyric Theatre, Gold Reef City Casino, South Africa.
There will be representatives from Angola, Burundi, Lesotho, Nigeria, Rwanda, Namibia and South Africa among others including Ghana.
Exclusive Events, organisers of Miss Ghana confirmed Rebecca’s participation and announced she left Accra on Wednesday, April 20 for South Africa to join other contestants ahead of the event.
“I’m happy to confirm the Rebecca Asamoah, the second runner up shall depart Ghana on Wednesday the 20th of April for Johannesburg SA to represent Ghana at the maiden edition of Miss Africa Continent Pageant,” Inna Patty, CEO of Exclusive Events, announced on Wednesday.
Miss Ghana 2015, Antoinette Delali Kemavor, first runner-up Afua Asieduwaa Akorfa and others will also be in South Africa to support Miss Asamoah at the final event.
The 24-year-old Dental Surgery Assistant at the College of Health in Kintampo put up an interesting performance to win second runners-up slot at the 2015 edition of Miss Ghana pageant in November.
She also went home with Miss Congeniality, Miss Fitness and Most Disciplined prizes that fateful night.
She is expected to repeat the feat in South Africa to make her country proud out there by bringing home the ultimate crown.
