The search for the next queen to wear the Miss Ghana crown and take up social responsibilities takes off today.
Exclusive Events Ghana, organisers of the pageant, will be launching the ceremony at the Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel in Accra to pave way for various auditions around the country to select finalists for the main event.
The launch is coming off days after Miss Ghana 2017 allegedly resigned from her position without stating any reason.
Organisers who welcomed her resignation indicated that some queens decided to resign “largely due to the decision of management to strictly enforce the code of ethics enshrined in their respective contracts.”
Under the Miss Ghana Foundation, the Miss Ghana pageant has, over the years, carved an impressive niche as that pageant that generates awareness various socio-economic problems, collaborates with government institutions and corporate firms in sending relief to various deserving communities across the country.
It has actively been involved in providing meaningful and lasting solutions to most of the social interventions embarked on.
One of the major projects undertaken by the Miss Ghana Foundation, among many others, is the Don Bosco Street Child Project, where the foundation helped in acquiring a 10-acre of land and established a hostel where thousands of street children are given social and technical training.
The land also hosts the only functioning Child Protection Centre in Ghana.
Last week, the foundation, together with National Petroleum Authority (NPA), commissioned a water system to residents in Nabuli Witches Camp in the Gushegu Municipality in the Northern Region.
The Miss Ghana Organisation will be searching for queens who will best fit its agenda to impact society.
The pageant, therefore, would not all be about glitz, glam and the many privileges that come with the crown. It will come with an ambassadorial role that involves a lot of work – in joining other enterprising ladies to bring change to communities.
The role of the beauty queen is also to serve as a role model who helps in generating support for the under-privileged in societies to get access to quality education, health and good standard of living.
