TANINK Limited, owners of the Alfa-Romeo franchise in Ghana and Nigeria has clinched a two-year agreement with Media Whiz Kids to sponsor the Miss Ghana pageant for 2003 and 2004. The slot for major sponsor of the Miss Ghana pageant became vacant when Accra Brewery Limited and Akosombo Textiles Limited announced their intention to pull out of the sponsorship agreement.

Media Whiz Kidz, recently announced that it was renegotiating its sponsorship contracts to match the present economic conditions. Chairman of Media Whiz Kidz, Gaddy Laryea told JOY FM that the new deal with TANINK who are now the major sponsors is worth about 180 million cedis.

Mr. Laryea says TANINK will provide two of their range of vehicles for the winners of the pageant during the sponsorship period.

He said due to the present economic difficulties, the organizers have decided to do away with their normal format, which involves staging preliminary events in all ten regions, and have divided the country into five zones from which twelve finalists instead of twenty will be chosen.

Winners of Miss Ghana contests in other countries around the world will also be allowed to participate in the final event.
