The Bolgatanga Catering Rest House will be the venue for the first of five zonal events scheduled to select Ghana’s representative for the Miss World pageant in 2004.
Zone 1 comprising the Northern Region, Upper East and Western Regions will have 8 beauties competing for the Beauty Pageant, 6 contestants for the Hiplife music talent hunt and 15 contestants for the highlife dance competition.
Come Saturday August 1, the Catering Rest House which has always had the biggest crowd during the preliminary rounds of the Miss Ghana Pageant will host contestants to yet another competition. A number of artistes including C.O. Lewis, Hiplife Champion 2002 will be supported by Ben Sounds to entertain guests to the show.
Already a number of aspiring hiplife artistes, some dancers and beauties have registered to feature in the programme now dubbed “Pleasure Double Do” following the take-over as main sponsors by Revlon and Tanink local representatives of Alfa Romeo.
To MC the show, will be good old Pikuss Laryea whose personality and presentation of the show over the years has endeared him to patrons all over the country especially in the North. Prizes for the zonal contest are: Beauty Pageant, ?800,000 for 1st position, ?600,000 for second position and ?200,000 for third to eighth-placed contestants.
For the dance contest the first placed contestant receives ?500,000 while the contestant who follows him gets ?450,000. In the Hiplife segment the first and second placed contestants will receive ?500,000 and ?450,000 respectively.
