Miss Ghana in N/R on tour of guinea worm communities

Tamale, Dec. 12, GNA - Miss Lamisi Mbillah, "Miss Ghana 2005", arrived in Tamale on Monday to begin a four-day working tour of guinea worm endemic communities in the Northern Region.

She is expected to share words of encouragement with the people to help stem the spread of the disease.

Miss Mbillah, who has now won the "Miss World Beauty With a Purpose", would visit guinea worm containment centre at Savelugu and interact with boys who carry water by means of donkeys, at the community dam site.

She would also go to Diare, Dashie and Sang guinea worm containment centres and take a trip to Wantugu, Chirifoyili and Tingoli, all guinea worm endemic areas in the Tolon-Kumbungu District. She would hold radio discussions on the disease and interact with tanker drivers in the Metropolis and pay a courtesy calls on chiefs. Miss Mbillah would later handover WHO relief items to the Directorate of the Ghana Health Service in Tamale.
