Emerging as queen of the beauty pageant Miss Malaika, is seen by some as all heavenly and rosy. In fact, many have compared it to walking on the streets of gold.
Truth is, the crown is worth all that and more; it comes along with all the fame and VIP treats, as well as responsibilities and tasks.
Last December, Miss Malaika 2009, Gizelle Addai, organized an end of year party for the students of the Dzorwulu Special School (The New Horizon School), and not too long ago, she single-handedly managed a painting and donation exercise at the Princess Marie Louis Hospital (Children’s hospital) in Accra.
She has been able to successfully embark on the above projects because of her high spirit and determination.
Miss Addai has proved beyond all reasonable doubts that she can perform to perfection all her responsibilities and tasks.
She recently attended the 64th Speech and Prize Giving Day of Holy Child School, Cape Coast, her alma mater.
She addressed the students on staying focused and determined in life, and to give off their best in all their endeavors.
She then contributed an amount of money towards the school library and donated pieces of ABC wax prints to the 8 best students in the year.
The beauty queen also recently held a day out for about 30 students of the Teshie Nungua Orphanage.
The day out, which was on Easter Monday, was not only to fete the children but to extend the spirit of giving to the orphans, who were more than excited at the opportunity of getting out of their home and spending the afternoon at Churcheese in Accra, playing and having fun.
The opportunity is ripe for another young lady to walk the path to the coveted crown, car, cash and an exciting experience that will serve as the launch pad to a prosperous future.
Organisers of the competition, Charterhouse, have released plans for this year’s edition, beginning with two major rounds of auditions.
The country has been divided into two zones; Northern and Southern zones, and auditions will be held at these zones to pick the initial number of ladies who will make it to the next stage of the auditions.
The first round of auditions is slated for the Ashanti Regional capital, Kumasi, on Saturday May 22, 2010, at Miklin Hotel.
The Southern zone auditions comes off at Alisa Hotel in Accra on June 5, 2010. The auditioning process is simple.
All one needs to do is to be a beautiful, intelligent and ambitious young lady between the ages of 18 – 25, send her name to short code 1759 on MTN and all other networks, and go through the registration process which will generate a code. Then they are to show up at the auditioning center of their choice to meet the judges.
