Organizers of the Miss Universe Ghana beauty pageant has debunked claims they rigged this year’s contest.

In a statement issued in Accra Tuesday, the organizers sought to explain why they arrived at the decision to crown 25-yr old Hilda Akua Frimpong as winner.

Below is the full statement

On the 29th day of August 2015, the Annual Miss Universe Ghana pageant was held at the Alisa Hotel in Accra, Ghana.

In addition a preliminary competition was held on the 27th of August 2015 at Sai lounge. Hilda Akua Frimpong was crowned Miss Universe Ghana 2015.

She was selected as the winner after going through a rigorous judging process with 9 other contestants and receiving the highest score on preliminary presentations that were open to the public, one-on-one interviews, and each contestant’s onstage presentation during the final show according to a standardized rubric used by all judges.

Hilda Akua Frimpong scored the highest tallied points in both preliminary stages and the official pageant respectively. We look forward to a positive and prosperous year for Ghana with our new queen and the royal court!

We are saddened however by and refute the recent allegations in the media that suggest that methods outside of the standard process were used to crown our queen. This is false information and will not be tolerated by the Miss Universe Ghana organization.

The Miss Universe Ghana Organization will not hesitate to take the appropriate legal steps against any person or group of persons who maliciously seek to mare the reputation of the pageant by peddling and/or publishing defamatory information about the organization and its employees.

We wish to emphasize that the aim of the pageant was to find brilliant and beautiful women who can represent Miss Universe Ghana with elegance and grace on the national and international stage.

We also aim at elevating the national and international awareness of Ghana thus enhancing the reputation and pride of the country.

We are proud to say we accomplished just that.

Congratulations to the Miss Universe Ghana 2015 Royal Court!
