For the next few weeks till mid September, a new and exciting public interactive reality TV series documenting the preliminary selected '16' delegates of the Miss Malaika Ghana 2003 undergoing grooming and bonding will engage TV audiences across the country in a thrilling entertainment show. Beginning tomorrow and subsequently on August 18, the Miss Malaika Reality TV series, The Making Of Miss Malaika, will be telecast on TV3. And on September 13, 2003, the final live show will take place at the Accra International Conference Centre. Making Of Miss Malaika, the TV series will portray the delegates in a number of tests to determine their suitability as Malaika queens, and will also show the girls fraternising with each other, including their nights out in the town.
The organisers, Charterhouse, a couple of weeks ago announced that the '16' girls after criss-crossing the Central, Ashanti and the Greater Accra Regions in the search for the girl with intelligence, poise, grace and good public speaking abilities, are currently undergoing a semi-final, after which four girls would be dropped, to leave 12 for the final event.
The girls last Sunday hosted a number of media personnel and the event's sponsors to a barbecue, at their Trasaco Valley mansion where they used the chance to thank them for supporting the pageant.
Viewers will be presented with great entertainment such as a cooking contest to test their culinary skills as African women, a karaoke singing gala, and an evening spent chatting with selected media personnel, as well as offer them an opportunity to help choose the most appropriate delegate, via telephone voting.
Ghana Miss Malaika 2003, apart from receiving ?20 million personal cash, will also work with the Ghana AIDS Commission as AIDS Ambassador for one year, as well as represent Ghana at the international pageant in South Africa on December 6, 2003. Among other prizes, she will also have the use of a Kia Sephia official car with comprehensive insurance from Phoenix Insurance, and a Sony Vega entertainment system.
The delegates include, from the Ashanti Region: Dela Amanda Gadzekpo, Yaa Saa Addo-Obiri, Nana Akua Addo. From the Central Region: Betty Nana Amponsah, Carmila Awuah-Amoani, Gifty Lysa Dadson, Esther Assasil and from the Greater Accra Region: Elsie Boateng, Thelma Tawiah, Gwyneth Gyimah, Jennifer Yador, Birgitta Naa Nartey, Harriet Naa Nartey, Edna Yayra Woadzro, Anita Quarshie and Victoria Edoe Ago.
