The Model of the Universe pageant comes off on Saturday night at the National Theatre in Accra. This is the first time that the event is being organised in Africa since it was started about a decade ago. About thirty models from across the world have arrived in the country for tonight’s event.

The Model of the Universe concept is the brainchild of Miss Tourism World Organisation, international event organisers – and is frontlined in Ghana by 1st Royale.

According to the organisers of the event, tonight’s chapter will not only bring out talents but also promote the various cultures across the globe. The winner of the event will receive a prize package amounting to about $60,000, which includes a one-year modelling stint with the Platinum Modelling Agency in London.

The national coordinator of the event, Akosua Puni is optimistic that the event will promote Ghana’s rich cultural heritage. “We are trying to promote Ghana as an agency. It’s going to be a mixture of our culture, our talents, our fabrics, etc”, she told JOY FM.

The contestants of the world-modelling event have since their arrival over the last two weeks visited some of Ghana’s famous tourists sites as a way of enhancing the country’s tourism potential. The contestants also called on President Kufuor earlier this week.
