Thousands of Ghanaians from across the country Friday night thronged the independence square seeking to renew their spirits in a praise and worship session with celebrated international gospel musicians Don Moen and Israel Houghton.

And they had their fill, for Moen and Houghton who are in the country to participate in a musical extravaganza dubbed ?To God be the Glory? to honour God for 50 years of Ghana?s independence, were just marvelous.

The crowd was well entertained during the four-hour live performance from Moen, Houghton and other local artistes, and Israel Houghton in particular captivated the audience.

Hours before the show started, many in the waiting crowd were visibly praying in tongues, whiles others moved through the crowd preaching the gospel.

The huge crowd could not wait to see the two world acclaimed gospel musicians but were patient enough to wait deep into the night as the programme take-off dragged on.

After it finally took off at 10:15pm, the enchanted crowd kept on their feet for over three hours worshiping and thanking God for 50 years of nationhood.

Houghton was to hypnotize many with his ?Alpha and Omega? soulful hit as it flowed freely and loudly and touched hearts.

Tears filled the eyes of many amidst sobs, hands waving to proclaim God?s majesty.

Finally, when Don Moen mounted the stage, it was apparent the crowd was spiritually satisfied.

Half through his worship, the tired or perhaps the filled were gradually exiting the grounds, but many were those who had to return for more as he poured forth danceable and powerful praise songs that left the audience dancing.

Most people Joy News spoke to described the show as terrific and hoped that Sunday evening?s concert at the International Conference Centre will be just as good.

They also prayed that local gospel artistes would soon match up to the of Moen and Houghton standards.
