According to Maame Dokono the first time she visited her area on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), she was almost lynched and she later left NDC to join the New Patriotic Party (NPP) because they were doing a lot for women at the time but she later realized they are all the same.

"Most of the time you have to say things you don't want to say and people insult you and say all sort of things about you and there is corruption all over. There was no clean politics and there isn't clean politics in Ghana".
She said people even chased in the busy threatening to kill her and some also attacked her spiritually trying to eliminate her. Madam Omaboe said her sick mother advised her to stop politics and that was why she stopped for good and she is not going back into politics because it is too dangerous at her age.
