Some celebs never miss out on celebrating any occasion, and if it is a special one like Mothers Day, they have their own particular way of celebrating it.

Ghanaian star actress Yvonne Nelson was not left out of the trend this season when she, over the weekend, paid homage to motherhood during last Sunday’s Mothers Day by talking about her loving relationship with her mum, Margret Kusi, 50.

According to the sexy and leggy actress, in as much as she respects and salutes Mothers Day, she considers the day to be normal because between her and the mum, everyday is Mothers Day. “The funny thing is I always do things for my mum. I keep surprising her every day, so I think on Mothers Day, I did what I do every day for her. So Mothers Day is not a different day for me,” she told NEWS-ONE.

The last born of three siblings, Yvonne was single-handedly brought up by her mum, a development she said imbibed in her “a bouquet of feelings”, as her mother had to play the roles of both father and mother. “Now she is my best friend, she watches my movies and tells me that, oh no I should have done this, that way or this way.”

She said her mum is her biggest fan, who is also not too bothered about newspaper publications about her daughter. “She can really differentiate between when I am acting and my normal life. She does not complain when she hears these rumours about me. She knows it comes with the job and all the stories that come up.

When we are at home, we just laugh about it. Sometimes she is even the one who calls me to inform me that she had just read about me in the papers. We are very cool with each other as far as my job is concerned.”

Even though they are both fair and tall, Yvonne and her mum are very different in character. While the actress is an extrovert, Aunty Maggie is just the opposite. “My mum is pretty and I’m ugly,” she praised her.

Mums are always choosy and Yvonne’s mum is no different. She had wanted Yvonne to become a lawyer, but the daughter has a different dream. She however did not frustrate her when she decided to go into film making.

“She probably thought I was joking when I started this acting job but after, she has been encouraging me. Oh I love my mum. There are no words to describe her. I pray God gives her long life and good health.”
