For some time now, there has been a drastic reduction in the number of movies released within a month in Ghana, especially from the glamour movie industry. This has been attributed to many reasons including actors turning into movie producers, low sales of movies and others.

That notwithstanding, Ghanaian actress Xandy Kamel has revealed that she thinks otherwise with people who complain that movies from the glamour side of the Ghanaian movie industry have slowed down.

According to her, a couple of her colleagues including herself have been busy leaping from one set to the other shooting movies.

Speaking to Zionfelix.com from Nigeria where she is shooting two movies, Xandy said “I don’t know where that information is coming from. People who say movies are not released unto the market as it used to be might not be visiting the shops as they used to. There are many movies that come out weekly which are nice as well.”

“Movies that do not get the chance of being premiered at the cinemas are more than those that get to Silverbird.”

She further mentioned John Dumelo, Yvonne Nelson, Kafui Danku, Eddie Watson, Eddie Nartey and other Ghanaian actors who have been busy on set shooting movies.

“I mostly meet Josyln Dumas, Yvonne Okoro, Yvonne Nelson, John Dumelo and the other guys on set. I was even on set with Jackie Appiah weeks ago before I came to Nigeria for this movie I am working on.

I clearly remember Yvonne Nelson’s new movie “Single and Married Complicated” which has most of my fellows featured in it. I’ve also heard of a new one from Eddie Nartey and Frank Rajah," she said.

“All these show that the acting is booming in Ghana” Xandy Kamel stressed.

She continued “producers are being careful in what they put out on the market that is why people are saying movies are not released as it used to be, but I can say that is not the case.“

Xandy Kamel has featured in movies like 5 pm, Four Forty, Destiny, Precious Gold, The Promise and others.

She has worked with actors like Kofi Adjorlolo, Yvonne Nelson, Kwadwo Nkansah LiWin, Daddy Lumba, Kwaku Manu, Bill Asamoah, Emmanuel Armah, Olu Jacobs, Wizkid, Emelia Brobbey, Maame Serwaa, Ebiye Amanda, Fredrick Leonard, Bishop Umeh and others.
