Mr. Beautiful Award Missing

The maiden Ghana Movie Awards has ended with mixed feelings but the issues with regards to who deserved which award is still lingering in the minds of movie fans.

The latest fracas adding up to the myriad of issues in connection with the awards ceremony is the disappearance of award trophies from the homes of the winners. The man at the centre of the latest controversy is Mr. Clement Bonney aka Mr. Beautiful. He was adjudged the best supporting actor in local language in the movie Ama Ghana from Paul Gee productions.

Being our first publication in the year 2011 after the maiden Movie awards, reporters of Flex newspaper decided to speak with the award winners concerning the areas they emerged victors as well as knowing their expectations in the years ahead of them in the movie industry.

Mr. Clement Bonney was called but due to his closeness to our Malam office annex, he wanted the reporter Reagan O. Safo to come to his house for a detailed chat including some factors he wanted to raise in the movie awards.

The first area their conversation touched on was Agya Koo`s fury on the change of name of the category he won which earned him the car prize. That category was the over all best actor which he snatched from the only competitor Majid Michel who also won the best actor in English language category. This is Mr. Beautiful`s bone of contention. Read on.

“I just don't understand why Agya Koo does not want to accept the Founders Merit award as his honour because I even consider that name to be very heavy than the over all best actor in Ghana. It comes with a lot of pride to be known as a founder of something. I suppose Agya Koo`s issue has to do with the name Founders Merit which he feels some people would not understand in the country, but the necessary recognition will still be there even outside Ghana. This will keep Agya Koo`s name in history books forever. There should not be any issue with the name at all” Mr. Beautiful added in his statement.

He was also grateful to his fans who supported him ever since he appeared on the silver screen with his acts. Beautiful also thanked the organizers of the awards for their ingenuity and courage to have introduced this awards scheme which he sees to be a moral booster for the players in the movie industry.

The unfortunate incident happened when Mr. Beautiful was called to present his award trophy for a photo shoot. He went to his room from the corridor where the interview was being conducted but after some more than necessary minutes, he came out without the plaque with a hard and frowned face.

He was heard yelling the names of some people in the house asking about the trophy but none proved that he has seen the plaque in the house. This brought a lot of tension in the house so the interview had to be brought to an abrupt end whiles this reporter waited for the search for the trophy.

After a thorough search of more than 30 minutes, the search proved abortive so the reporter had to leave the scene to check on Beautiful at a later date. As of the time of going to press, Mr. Beautiful was contacted about the missing plaque but it was the same old story of not seeing it. So the question we are asking is this: is Mr. Beautiful`s (award) trophy missing or stolen?
