The National Theatre in Accra Tuesday came alive as patrons of Multi TV’s maiden Adom Concert Party yelled and danced to side-cracking jokes and highlife music.
With a good blend of some of Ghana’s popular names when it comes to colloquial comedy as well as highlife music, no less could have been expected from what patrons acknowledged was a great show.
Good old Obuoba J.A. Adofo and ‘Gospel Professor’ Kofi Abraham led the attack by the musicians, piping out evergreen and nostalgic songs that got patrons shake and dance to mark the 55th anniversary of Ghana’s independence from colonial rule.
And there was ‘Bishop’ Bob Okala, slender and delicate and full of witty jokes as always, as well as Cocoa Tea, Ecolac, and Esi Koyo Beda among others, who dished out their usual wisecracks that saw patrons lose control of their jaws as laughter after laughter pushed through incessantly.
Organisers of the Adom Concert Party, Multi TV, (a member of the Multimedia Group Ltd.), plan to institutionalize the event as a regular menu on the entertainment calendar of the nation.
The heavily attended programme also saw performances by the Edikanfo Concert Party Group and Krabewhe Concert Party Group among others.
