The much awaited Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 2014 has begun with the daunting task of categorizing compiled entries into appropriate categories by the VGMA Board.
The first sitting of the Board was on January 15 whereas the deadline for submission of entries within the calendar year is January 31, 2014.
Mrs. Theresa Ayoade, Executive Director of Charter House, who gave this information at the press launch of the event, said last year’s award categories would be maintained and their outfit is committed to informing and educating the general public on the selection process.
She outlined the schedule for the VGMA which starts with the Launch, Nominees Unveiling Party and a Forum in March. This is followed by the “Music Everywhere” Tour and Nominees Jam which is to be staged at Tamale in April. In the same month, the Academy voting and Industry Awards Nite would be held.
The VGMA Main Awards Nite would be held in May with the exact date yet to be communicated. Prize Presentation would be held exactly a month after.
The theme for this year’s VGMA is “Music Everywhere”, which according to Mrs. Ayoade, is the acknowledgement of the fact that Ghanaian music has grown and taken over all activities.
