Ghanaian Highlife legend Nana Acheampong has advised young Ghanaian musicians to be mindful of the future when they start making money in the industry.

Speaking in an interview on UTV, he said that music is a ‘dangerous business,’ so musicians need to plan for the future when things are smooth.

“Music is a very dangerous business when you start and things are going well, but along the way, hurdles may come.

“So, slowly start making investments for the future as the money starts coming in," he said.

Citing the dynamic nature of music, Nana Acheampong advised musicians to start investing in businesses and other projects they can fall back on, as there is no promise of a consistent income in the music business.

“Music is dynamic, the music trending today may not be the music trending tomorrow.

“You might be hitting now and feel on top of the world but keep it at the back of your mind that it may not last. So, start making plans for the times when you may no longer get consistent hits,” he said.

Nana Acheampong, formerly of the Lumba Brothers, is known for songs such as Casanova, It’s 2 Late, Wara Beba, San Behwe Wo Ma, Obi Dom Bie, Odo Kooye Akye and Gyae Su.
