Ghanaian gospel musician, Patience Nyarko, has advised her fellow gospel musicians to wait for God to put a song in their mouth before they sing.
The ‘W’afom Kwan’ singer says musicians are like Pastors so they need to pray, fast and seek for the direction of God before they come out with a song.
“Gospel musicians are the mouthpiece of God so they need to wait for God to put his words in their mouth before they come out with anything. If God created us in his likeness and invested into us his power, then people has to feel the presence of his power and strength when we sing,” she told Mr. Lattus in an interview on J.life Fm Chat Show.
Patience Nyarko who is out with her second album after releasing her debut ‘Menwu’ in 2013 revealed that she write her own songs.
“By God grace I write my own songs…it’s not wrong for someone to write a song for a musician, but it shouldn’t be anytime that someone has to do that for you. Musicians need to pray and seek for directions of God because we don’t work for ourselves.
If you pray to God he will surely strengthen you in whatever you do.” When asked of how she sees the future of the Ghanaian gospel industry, Patience Nyarko said: “The Ghanaian gospel industry has a great future and God will lift some people up to do more than what the veterans have done…and even what I’m doing.”
She advised up and coming musicians to stop imitating and pray very hard to God for a new message that they will put across in their songs.
