Talented songstress Nana Yaa has said that she least expected to be nominated in this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards since her ‘Ego be’ song was only six (6) months old.

“I probably never expected that I would be nominated because I just came into the main stream music with ‘Ego be’ which was only six month, I was considering that other female artistes who have been around for many years so it was a big shock for all us.”

Nana Yaa on Kasapa Entertainment on Kasapa 102.3 FM Saturday, told Kojo Preko Danquah that she is pleased with the rate at which her songs enjoy air play.

Daughter of Ghanaian music legend Pat Thomas, Nana Yaa who has worked with musicians such as Sonnie Badu, Osibisa, Rex Omar, Okyeame Kwame, Tagoe Sisters, Becca, among others said she is thankful to her fans and management for the massive support shown to her.

According to her, she initially intended to feature EL on her new single ‘Handkerchief’ and when the plan didn’t work out she chose Samini who did incredibly well on her new song.

“I had wanted to feature EL on the Handkerchief song but after a second thought I featured Samini, who is an amazing talent.”

One of the toughest categories in this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) is the Female Vocalist of the Year and Nana Yaa is one of the ladies in contention since she believes she stands tall among the rest.

The other competitors in the category are Adina, Irene Logan, Efya, Yaa Yaa and MzVee.
