My family disowned me for joining a music band – Smart Nkansah

Veteran Hi life singer, Smart Nkansah on Kasapa Entertainment with Kojo Preko Dankwa revealed that he was renounced by his family members because he joined a Band Music.

According to the composer of ‘Nsem Pii’ his passion for playing instrument grew stronger after his father passed away and consequently trained as a sole guitarist.

“Due to the old myth about Bandsmen, I was prevented by my family members to discontinue my dream of becoming a musician yet I wasn’t perturbed but I persevered.”

Sharing his worse life experience, Smart indicated that due to the hardship in the country years back many of the popular Bands in Ghana traveled abroad for greener pastures hence he also did not hesitate to travel outside.

“Because Band music was receiving low patronage I decided to travel to the UK.”

Known for his splendid performances on stage, Smart came up with a unique style of highlife which many have embraced
