My father slapped me when I told him I wanted to be a sound engineer - Kaywa

Multiple award-winning sound engineer and producer, David K simply known as Kaywa has disclosed that indeed he has passed through a lot in his quest to be what he desired while growing up.

According to Kaywa, his father gave him one loud slap in the face when he told him he wanted to be a sound engineer and that he being a sound engineer now hasn't been easy for him at all.

Speaking to Anita Erskine of Starr Fm, when asked some of the ordeals he has to pass through to be where he is now, he said,

"So I went to my father one day and told him I can't be that Mechanical engineer or that lawyer and that I wanted to be a beat maker. My father got angry and slapped me, may be he just didn't like the sound engineer thing."

He continued, "I won't forget that day at all but at the end of it all, like 5 years before he passed on, he called me one day, held my hand and told me that I've made him proud and then blessed me."

Kaywa is celebrating his 15 years of actively producing hit songs upon hit songs. On how he's able to stay trendy all this while he said he's always reading around and learning day in day out as well.

"I study the industry so well, the trends and everything. I just don't sit down there doing anything and that's how come I'm able to stay this relevant in the industry for 15 years." He disclosed.
