When it comes to wealth, gospel musicians are mostly not considered as wealthy as their counterpart doing other genres because many perceive their ministry to be for free when they’re billed to perform at events.

But award-winning chanteuse Mercy Twum-Ampofo known in the showbiz circles as Ohemaa Mercy has said gospel music is full time business and focus is to draw unsaved souls to Christ yet gospel minstrels should not be devalued in the music industry.

In a chat with Bola Ray on the Starr Chat on Starr FM, one of Ghana’s most successful Gospel musicians, stated that she charges for shows she is billed to perform on since sound engineers demand and promoters demand payment for works done for her.

When asked if it is wrong for a christian to be wealthy, Ohemaa Mercy replied, “There’s nothing wrong with it because silver and gold belongs to God. It glorifies God. If you see me driving my Range Rover Sport, it is God who has made it so.”

Ohemaa Mercy and husband, Isaac Twum-Ampofo said they own a magnificent mansion at Celebrity Hills, a Range Rover, G-Wagon and other fleet of cars.

“One beautiful thing that happened to us in the years we’ve worked for the Lord and in the Music industry, I’m using our current place of living as an example at Celebrity Hills close to MF Estate in Accra, I can imagine how God has raised us to that level. Some of the secular musicians who also live close to us saw our mansion and they were marveled. One of the artistes told us if we’ve been able to put up such a magnificent mansion then he will worship God and is so amazing some of them do join us every Saturday morning to fellowship with us.

“When you do the work of God with all sincerity and make impact, make sure that your heart is for the fact that people will be blessed by what God has given through you and when that is done God will also cause the same people you minister to and are blessed to be a blessing to you.” Mr Ampofo, husband of Ohemaa Mercy disclosed.
