Okyeame Kwame, born Kwame Nsiah Appau, has revealed that the greatest honour he ever received as a musician is the adaptation of his lyrics for study in some universities across the world.

Speaking on Urban Blend on 3FM with host Miriam Osei Agyemang, the Rap Doctor said although he does not get paid by the universities that study his lyrics, he is ok with the honour.

“[It is being studied at] the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Yusuke and not just that; some American universities also study it,” Okyeame Kwame disclosed.

The Rap Doctor said “it is not being used for commercial purposes but rather intellectual purpose. For my lyrics to be taken and appreciated at KNUST’s literature department … that one to me is the highest honour I have had.”

He said veteran musician, Agya Koo Nimo, and other Linguistics lecturers in 2004 taught him the literature behind his rap and the poems he wrote.

“Until then, I didn’t have a clue. I was just writing. It was after Agya Koo Nimo and some other Linguistics lecturers taught me the literature behind my rap and poems that I got to know that there is a difference between an ‘art in mind’ and ‘art in soul.’

“Art in mind is when you know exactly what you are doing and art in soul is when it is cool and natural.”
