Ghanaian musician Rashid Metal has opened up about the challenges he faced under his previous management, revealing that a breach of contract and dishonesty contributed to his decision to take a break from music.

Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM on August 16, 2026, he mentioned that things were not going as planned while he was working under management, forcing him to take a step back from his music career.

“I took a break from music due to some things. You are working under management and things are not going as planned,” he explained.

According to the musician, his contract required management to produce three music videos for him every year, but the agreement was allegedly not honoured.

“Imagine your contract saying you should shoot like three videos every year and it doesn’t happen. The second year too, the same thing is happening,” he said.

Rashid Metal also accused his former management of failing to be transparent with him about payments from shows.

“When we go for shows and we get paid, the management would lie that the organisers didn’t pay for the show I performed. A lot was going on and the management was not being truthful to me,” he alleged.

He further disclosed that his manager had breached their contract, but he chose not to pursue the matter because of the support the manager had offered him in the past.

“He has breached the contract, so I have the right to hold him accountable, but I decided to ignore it because I feel he has helped me before,” he stated.

Rashid Metal said the financial arrangement under management also made it difficult for him to progress.

According to him, income generated from his work was divided into three portions, with one part going into production, another to management and the remaining portion to him.

“When I was under management, money would come and we had to divide it into three. One part will be used for the work, one will go to the management and one will come to me. That was making things difficult for me,” he explained.

He disclosed that his decision to move away from the management structure eventually opened the door to better opportunities.

“I had to lean back, but I felt like God wanted me to move away from them so that greater opportunities could come my way,” he shared.

Rashid Metal revealed that in 2019, he released another song independently, and the project performed better financially than his earlier works under management.

“In 2019, I dropped another song on my own. The song was everywhere and I gained a lot of money from it than the first song,” he disclosed.

He also maintained that his popular song Baafira belongs to him and was created before the management team became involved in his career.

“Moreover, ‘Baafira’ is mine, not the management. I did everything on my own before they came on board, so they got everything softly,” he added.
