Kofi Nti is a popular Highlife musician
Highlife musician Kofi Nti has explained why he did not attend the funeral of the late music legend Daddy Lumba.
Sharing his reasons, Kofi Nti, a close associate of Lumba, cited safety concerns, family advice, and the controversies surrounding the burial.
Speaking on the issue, Kofi Nti described himself as a peaceful person who had hoped that the family head (Abusuapanin) would bring unity among the parties involved, particularly the two women associated with the late musician.
“I’m a very peaceful person. I thought Abusuapanin would bring both wives together for them to be in peace, but I didn’t see that,” he said.
According to the highlife musician, he began to distance himself from the event after hearing troubling reports about tensions surrounding the funeral arrangements.
“My mother called me and said she had heard a lot about the funeral, so I shouldn’t involve myself,” Kofi Nti disclosed.

He said the scale of Daddy Lumba’s legacy meant expectations were high for a massive turnout, possibly filling an entire stadium.
However, the ongoing disputes made him uncomfortable.
“We were expecting the whole stadium to be full,” he noted.
Kofi Nti explained that his decision was largely influenced by concerns for his personal safety, given the charged atmosphere at the time.
“I didn’t want to go because of the controversies that went on. I wouldn’t want something to happen there or someone hitting me with something just because I showed up,” he stated.
Out of respect for his mother’s advice and in line with his own values, he ultimately chose not to attend the funeral.
“Since my mother said I shouldn’t involve myself, I had to respect that,” he added.
