Ghanaian hip-hop and rap artiste Opanka has said his new song titled ‘hold on’ featuring Kofi Kinaata has helped saved the lives of three persons who had been contemplating suicide.
‘Hold on,’ an inspirational song, was released in May 2020.
According to the artiste, he felt a sense of satisfaction when he heard the stories of the failed suicide attempts because the song had achieved the desired effect.
Speaking in an interview with Nana Romeo on Accra100.5FM's Entertainment Capital on Saturday, 6 June 2020, the 'Hold on' maker said: “Three people who were going to commit suicide [these ones I know about] were saved by this song. One is my friend’s friend, so, it was my friend in the US who was playing the song and his friend heard it. He told my friend that, perhaps, he was sent by someone to play this song because he was actually contemplating suicide while in his room due to the stress he was going through at that time.
“And another one, it’s someone I know who told me the song spoke to him and also the other one, my friend’s sister said she was about to kill herself but the song spoke to her. Immediately I heard one of the stories, I was at peace because the purpose for making that song had been achieved. The song was meant to send out a particular message”, he said.
