Princess Rita
Rising Ghanaian gospel songstress, Princess Rita, real name Rita Aboagye Asomani, has stated that, unlike several musicians who sound like one another, she has been blessed with one outstanding unique voice.
In an interview with Flex Newspaper, the angelic singer who is currently promoting her latest single titled Opeme Seyie explained why her voice surpasses her colleague musicians.
”In this Gospel fraternity, most singers have similar confusing voices, because almost everyone is trying to sound like the other. My voice is what distinguishes me from other artistes. I sing deeply from my soul and the outcome is clearly soothing”, Princess Rita intimated.
According to the songstress, she gathered inspiration to write Opeme Seyie from her observation on how some evil relatives connived with external forces to spiritually destroy their own family members. Produced by JK, Opeme Seyie, she said, is therefore composed for every Christian who is battling with such obstacles in life. This song entreats all and sundry to pray harder against all plans of the devil.
”Opeme Seyie is a danceable Highlife single which is off my forthcoming 8-track album. It features Papa Thompson. The album which is actually my 2nd is scheduled to be launched early next year. I initially wanted to release it in 2010 but I had no source of funding. I recently took it back into the studio for some finishing touches. If I get an executive producer in the course of the year, it will be released”, she added.
At a tender age of 9, Princess Rita started utilizing her singing talent. Although Princess Rita is an ordained Bishop from a renowned Bible School, she has opted to solely spread the Gospel through her music. With inspiration from her mentor, Dorcas Appiah, Rita released her maiden album titled Anidaso) in 2007. She also worked as a backing vocalist for the sensational Andy Frimpong-Manso for about 5years.
