Rapper Okyeame Kwame has revealed that he considered dissing Obrafour after the latter gave his platform to Guru to criticize him.

In 2009, Obrafour featured Guru in a song titled “Nkasiebo,” where they addressed the state of hiplife, indirectly targeting Obour and Okyeame Kwame by suggesting that the genre needed revival.

However, in a recent interview with Zionfelix, Okyeame Kwame has expressed shock that Obrafour, his friend, had not informed him about the song before its release. "I was shocked when I heard it on the radio. I had spoken to Obrafour, and he never mentioned it to me. I thought he should have given me a heads-up," he recalled.

Despite having prepared a notebook full of diss lines in response, Okyeame Kwame revealed that his management at the time, especially his wife, prevented him from recording a retaliatory song.

“I was shocked when I heard the song on the radio. I had spoken to Obrafour and he never mentioned it to me. I thought he should have even given me a heads-up,” he said.

“I had an exercise book full of diss lines I wanted to use in replying to Obrafuor but my management at that time, especially my wife will not allow me. You have not made a song about Nkrumah, you’ve not made a song about your father so why will you go to the studio to record a song about one person?," he added.

He credited this decision not to retaliate as crucial in maintaining his relevance and positive perception in the industry.

"Not dissing Obrafour allowed forward-thinking people to see me in a positive light. Sometimes the people around you should be able to help you make the best decisions. I am sure if I had recorded that diss song maybe I wouldn’t be as relevant as I am now. It may be the saddest highlight of my career," he concluded.
