The nomination of dancehall artiste MzVee for the 2016 Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards was a wrong one, highlife musician Kaakyire Kwame Fosu, popularly known as K.K Fosu, has said.
According to him, EL, who was crowned the 2015/16 Artiste of the Year, should have been the obvious choice for the prestigious awards event that took place at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles, USA, last June.
Speaking on Ayekoo Ayekoo, Accra100.5FM’s mid-morning show, hosted by Nana Romeo on Friday March 31, KK Fosu said Charterhouse Ghana, organisers of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, who are also in charge of the nominations for the BET Awards, deliberately picked MzVee to represent at the ceremony at EL’s expense.
“After Sarkodie won at the BET, Charterhouse felt he had become disrespectful and so they would teach him a lesson and that was the more reason why Stonebwoy was chosen as the Artiste of the Year in 2015 to enable him represent Ghana at the BET. After Stonebwoy went to BET he was dumped, never to be used again,” the Sudwe hit maker recalled.
“EL, who won Artiste of the Year in 2016, just look at what happened to him. Instead of being selected for the BET, he was dumped and MzVee, from nowhere, was chosen to represent at the BET because they felt EL had become arrogant and disrespectful. MzVee should not have been chosen, she was a wrong choice for the event.”
