A dramatic twist to the recent Mzbel ordeal in Accra, occurred last Tuesday when security operatives inches within hair?s breadth towards resolving the rape and robbery mystery.

The event which happened at the residence of the Ghanaian entertainer at Gbawe a fortnight ago, was rekindled in a small but well-furnished hair dressing salon at Osu when a young man attempted to sell a laptop computer which turned out to be of the items stolen in that midnight raid on Mzbel?s house.

A customer who was in the salon to have her hair styled became curios upon the entry of the man who is well known in the area as notorious for dealing in stolen items.

The lady quickly disclosed what she observed to a member of the security service and that caused the suspect to be placed under the security searchlight he made a second appearance at the salon last Tuesday apparently to conclude the transaction.

A detachment from the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service which raided the place, missed him narrowly but managed to pick the laptop and the 39 year old owner of the salon to help in further investigations.

The owner of the salon, Mr. George Lutterodt admitted that he was consulted by "the youngman" who wanted to sell the laptop.

Mr. Lutterodt described the man simply as a former butcher who used to sell meat at the Nima market. He claimed he bought the computer for ?2.5 million and had already made part payment of ?1.5 million to the man.

It was one of the items stolen from the home of the musician who was reported to have been assaulted by two of the three armed robbers, who stormed her New Gbawe residence around 2:30 am, a fortnight ago.

The armed robbers were said to have also attacked one of her dancers living with her at the time and made away with the laptop as well as $900 and ?500 cash with which she returned from an UN-sponsored musical tour of Liberia.

They were also alleged to have taken away a Sony video and still cameras, DVD players, a cassette player deck, clothings, jewellery and other items.

When it was activated the laptop was found to contain the portrait, profile and some compositions of Mzbel.

It also contained a 2005 personal interview in which Mzbel told her own story. The following are excerpts from that interview.

Who is the real Mzbel?
She is pretty, determined, outgoing young woman who was born on Boxing Day 1979. She is the last of seven children all girls, a mummy?s girl and the hottest female hiplife artiste in Ghana today.

What is your educational background?
After my primary and junior secondary school education at Morning Star and Owusu Mills JSS, I went over to Abuakwa State College then I furthered up to Ghana Institute of Languages where I studied English and French then to Manifold Tutorial College where I studied public relations and took a course in TV production.

Any working experience?
Yes, I started with GBC Radio 1 as a presenter for a kids programme known as 'Mmofra Kyepem', then I went over to Groove FM which is now known as Adom FM and worked as a presenter on another kids programme known as 'Kids On Groove'. From there I had the opportunity to do three month attachment at T# Network Limited, I was then employed at the TV station as a production assistant and floor manager. While working there I had a better offer from Hush Hush Studios to work as a producer and an editor of a kids programme known as 'Goody Goody' at Hush Hush Studios.

I had the opportunity to polish my editing skills. It didn?t end there. When things started slowing down at Hush Hush, I relocated to Apex Advertising Company, where I worked as an editor and a production manager for about a year and half and then moved on to Metro TV. I was employed at Metro TV as a producer for one of their in-house programmes called Smash TV. I worked on this programme for a while until management realized my editing skills. I worked for Metro TV for quite a long time before deciding to quit for music. When the music took off and everything seemed good. I started missing my editing so I took up a job at Village Communication Limited as an editor but I couldn't combine music and editing so I worked for just a few months and then quit.
