Youth Alive Ghana, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), in partnership with Star–Ghana, on Saturday organised a youth street dance competition dubbed: “Azonto for Peace dance”, in Wa.

It was a strategy to bring together young people in the Wa Municipality in the Upper West Region, to propagate to them peace messages.

The NGO educated the youth, who operate at the Wa main lorry park, on their constitutional rights, tolerance and democracy, before organising the street dance competition, to enable young people to campaign for violence-free elections.

Mrs. Agnes Chiravira, Director of Youth Alive Ghana, said that the competition was aimed at promoting peace ahead of Election 2012.

She advised the youth to shun politicians, who would attempt to use them to create violence in the December polls.

Alhaji Rashid Daud Yahaya, chairman of the Regional Peace Council, who spoke on the theme: “A Peaceful Ghana, Our collective Responsibility”, called on Ghanaians to unite and ensure peace in December, and for national development.

Mr. Ibrahim Abdul Samadu, who emerged the overall winner of the competition, received Ghc30 and a T-shirt as his prize.
