DKT International, an international NGO focusing on family planning and reproductive health, has engaged Global Media Alliance (GMA) and Black Avenue Music, to produce and release an “inspirational song” to further promote the principles underlying good reproductive health amongst the Ghanaian youth.

The song, titled “No Yawa”, is reflective of DKT’s ”NO-YAWA” movement, which is aimed at providing advice to Ghana’s youth on reproductive health matters, and will be officially “launched” on YFM’s “Dryve of Your Lyfe” show on Friday 5th December. The “Dryve of Your Lyfe” airs between 3pm – 7pm, Monday to Friday each week.

The “No Yawa” song is a joint production by GMA and Black Avenue Records, and features several Ghanaian music Stars such as Samini, Shatta Wale, D Black, Joey B, Efya, Asem, Trigmatic, Sherifah, and Yfm’s own Caroline.

According to Kevin Hudson, Executive Director of DKT International, “This song has been in planning for a long time, and we are very excited that it is finally ready to be shared with the Ghanaian youth. Our aim is to provide the necessary support system through which the youth will be educated on issues regarding sexual reproductive health, which will then empower them to make informed choices.”

Akwasi Agyemang, Managing Director of Global Media Alliance, expressed his delight with the project. “We are very proud to be associated with DKT International and Black Avenue Music to tackle such an important issue in our society.

A great deal of effort and hard work has been invested in this project, to ensure that the song carries just the right message to the youth”.

The No-Yawa support services include SMS alerts, youth friendly clinics, access to DKT products, a call centre, and many others.
