Paga (U/E), April 6, GNA - A Deputy Registrar at Ghana School of Law (GSL) Mr Leo Kaba, was on Monday elected Parliamentary candidate for the Chiana-Paga Constituency on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). He polled 40 votes in a crucial primary that was speculated to favour Mr Alfred Kwara, who polled 26 of the votes. Other contestants were Madam Kate Tedam, the party's candidate in 2000 and Mr Jonathan Anwe, Board Chairman for the Nara Rural Bank.
In a victory message, Mr Kaba called on the people to bury their differences and do vigorous campaigns to bring victory to the party in the December polls.
He said pledged to do his best to unite the people so together they could bring the needed development to the area.
Mr Kaba said he would spearhead and promote the construction of irrigable dams to take care of dry-season farming in the area, which employs most of the people in that constituency.
He further pledged to ensure the promotion of effective education and health needs of the people, saying that the area was handicapped in terms of good healthcare.
Madam Rita Asbayire, NPP National Women's Organiser, who supervised the election, called on the delegates to go out in full swing and start vigorous campaign to retain the party in power. 07 Apr. 04
