Nana King Making Waves In Nigeria

For the past few weeks Nana King have been out of town to fulfill some invitations and perform on some shows in different states in Nigeria, according his wife Nana Queen.

In subsequent times the Dansoman based Ashanti International rapper has been in the news about several projects he is involved with in Naija like featuring on the debut musical album of popular Nigerian Nollyhood actress Omotola Jallade Ekeinde which has raised a lot of controversies in the Nigerian media suspecting them of having a secret love affair.

He featured on Lady Dee's album; he is also billed to feature on Jim Iyke's first album among others. Presently Nana is one of the biggest Ghanaian arts in Nigeria.

On his return when we visited him, Nana King was celebrating quietly a surprise award he won at the just ended 2006 edition of the GBEDU Awards which is the biggest all round music award event, on the 25th of last month for the best foreign rap art in Nigeria.

On this same category he was nominated with Reggie Rockstone and Promzy of VIP. In a chat with King he said he had no idea of any awards like that. He went purposely to perform on a lovers night show organized in Ikoyi for the vals day. At the show he met 2Face Idibia, Jim Iyke and Nigerian Musicians and actors. As the main artist for the big show he shared the stage with guest artists like Zulu, Pastor Goodie Goodie, Konga one of the biggest and newest sensation in the country presently, and several Naija arts.

After his show Nana King was told he had been nominated for an award so he had to wait for a few more days for the event. On the night Kinino confessed he was not really expecting to win any award, so he went as any other nominee. Live on TV, the first on the award list was his category after scrawling through the nominees on the projector all he heard was the mention of his name which stroked him very had in the chest before he walked towards the stage to pick his award amidst a strong cheer and screaming from huge crowd.

On the same night, the most popular song was "Why me" by D'banj, best artiste of the year went to 2Face Idibia, best R&B art was won by Paul Play Dairo, best female artiste went to Weird M.C, best foreign art went to our own Boli of "you may kiss your bride" fame and best collaboration went to Tony Tetuila.

An after party organized in honor of Nana King was dubbed "Nana King and friends" ended the night with so much to eat and drink.

Currently, Nana is back home in Ghana to conclude the final face of the promotion of his last hiplife album "Slave no more" with Big 'B'records and to also be a judge for the second edition of the "Stars of the Future" TV show.

Meanwhile Nana is the first artist on Think Entertainment (Think Music) a new but very powerful record label in Nigeria who are already blazing his hip pop album "Never Say Die" on the airwaves and everywhere in Nigeria.
