Nana Kwabena Brobbey Retirement Party

Having lived in the US for 40 years, Nana Kwabena Brobbey aka Godfrey

Brobbey, the former New York Asantefuohene has retired and moving back home

to Ghana and enjoying a wonderful retirement. Family and friends recently

gathered at a location in Brooklyn to celebrate his retirement. Among the

dignitaries present were; *His Excellency* Leslie K. *Christian*, Ambassador

and *Permanent* Representative of *Ghana* to the United Nations who was the

Chairman of the occasion and *Nana* Kwesi *Arhin*, Minister Counsellor at

the *Ghana Permanent Mission* to the UN, who offered a toast, Nana Safo

Nyantakyi, former NY Asantefuohene and Nana Juaben Afrakoma, former

Asantefuohemaa. They were also many community leaders who were present to

offer their support.

Music was provided by Katabo Soundz and Nana Adu Tutu was the Master of

Ceremonies.

An earlier Church service in his honour occurred at the *St Mary's* *

Episcopal* Church, Classon Avenue, Brooklyn, NY.

Nana Brobbey Dankwa, the Sompahene of Denyasi in the Ashanti Region of

Ghana, has retired from his position as Deputy Chief Of Police at SUNY,

Downstate after 27 years of public service. Nana Brobbey was also the

President of the Amansie Association and former President of the National

Council of Ghanaian Associations (NCOGA) in New York. He is currently a

patron of the Staten Island Civic Association and an Elder of the Ghanaian

Anglican Ministry.

He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Police Science and a Masters of

Science in Criminology at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, New York.

He is married to the lovely Elizabeth Brobbey and together they have four

daughters and one son. Now that he is retired, Nana Brobbey Dankwa intends

to dedicate most of his time to helping the Ghana Police Force through a non

profit foundation and urges fellow Ghanians to also contribute to community

development in their respective areas and in Ghana.
