Independent US-based Ghanaian rapper, Nana NYC is releasing his track ‘One Nation’ featuring Samini from his album iMRECOGNIZED (Americanized) as part of Ghana’s 53rd Independence Day anniversary celebrations. The tune, produced by Mayor Lansky for G.M.P Productions was recorded in 2009 when Samini passed through the US for one day after his trip to Jamaica.
‘One Nation’ is about Ghana and its leaders working hand in hand. The song is coming out through Boogie Down Nima Productions. Nana NYC comments: “Hurricane Hashim Haruna, CEO of BDN actually wanted us to do a club single but I felt that I had a message to let out and working with an artist like Samini could really help spread the news.”
Nana NYC’s album can boast of different styles of music ranging from Highlife to Pop. “I have a song with Mimi Divalish, Mframa and I am working on a song with Buk Bak, V.I.P, and others. Since the album is not complete, I can't really say too much on what songs are going to be on it but for now people can look out for my music video ‘Top Gunna’, shot and directed by Dwayne Wayans. That video is for the internet and local TV stations to keep the hype going as the single jams on the radios”, he adds.
It is still not clear when the album would be released but the singles will be available on the internet, TV and radio. According to Nana NYC, there is no rush to put the album out: “I will later on come to Ghana and shoot the video with Samini for our song if God permits it. I have no pressure on me and don't plan to meet any deadlines at all for I move day by day. I am still working out songs”.
