Some netizens have criticised Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie for his continued silence during the recent #OccupyJulorbiHouse protest and other recent protests.
The rapper, who has consistently criticised the John Mahama-led government with his popular song 'Inflation' and the campaign song 'Happy Day,' in which he addressed the NPP government's provision of free education, has been notably quiet on social media about their percieved bad governance.
Despite the ongoing protest amid the growing economic hardship in the country, Sarkodie has not uttered a single word.
His silence has since sparked reactions from netizens, who are calling on the 'Non-Living Thing' hitmaker to also participate in the #OccupyJulorbiHouse and #FreetheCitizens advocacy currently basking on social media.
Netizens have intensified their calls for him to criticise the current government, as he did during the NDC administration.
In response to the criticisms, the rapper took to social media to share a different sentiment, 'We pray for wisdom and good health.'
Meanwhile, celebrities including Efya, Berla Mundi, Wodemaya, and many others have spoken out against what they describe as the injustice faced by the protesters following their arrests.
Background
The #OccupyJulorbiHouse protesters were arrested during their demonstration, which took place over the weekend.
The arrests followed a three-day protest at the 37 military Roundabout, where demonstrators raised concerns about illegal small-scale mining (galamsey) and economic mismanagement.
On Sunday, September 22, tensions escalated as a major confrontation occurred between protesters from Democracy Hub and the Ghana Police Service, marking the second day of the demonstrations.
