With four successful albums and an uncountable number of hit singles to his credit, 2 time International Act, Africa winner at the BET Awards, Michael Owusu Addo known by his stage name Sarkodie asserts that ‘New Guy‘ which features American recording artist Ace Hood is one of his biggest records ever.
Despite claims by many that the song could not stand the test of time considering the hype prior to and after the release of the single, the Illuminati hitmaker thinks otherwise.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with NY DJ on Kumasi’s biggest alternative breakfast show #RYSENSHYNE on Y102.5FM, Sarkodie revealed New Guy remains a heart-fulfilling project that hit the made the major impact he wanted.
"That is one of my biggest records ever, hype-wise, the music itself, I love it to the core. I don’t do songs thinking this has to be a hit. I do music based on how I feel from my heart and that is typically 'New Guy'. New Guy is like a heart fulfilling type of record and to me, I think it actually hit the major impact that I wanted it to hit and people are loving it . My fans love it.”
Prior to the release of New Guy, reports that Sarkodie paid a sum of $25,000 for the collaboration became very topical taking over most entertainment discussion shows. The song became the most sought after during the month of it’s release.
New Guy since its release in June 2015 has had over 1 million views on YouTube.
