The new organisers of the Miss Ghana pageant are determined to give it a new face that will still keep it as the top entertainment event in the country.

Last year when everyone thought the pageant was going to suffer due to changes in its sponsorship deals and so on, it came out tops in its organisation and presentation, in fact drawing an unexpected large crowd.According to Kwesi Mensah of Link Artistic & Communication Services, who has followed the fortunes of the pageant over the past 20 years, the pageant has over the years won the hearts of the public and has continually provided a well packaged entertainment for its patrons.

"The new organisers who seem energetic and up to the task, I believe, will just carry the tradition on but with a new face, that will bring more enjoyment and fulfilment to patrons and positive career objectives for participants and for the country a boom in the tourism industry, when our representative to the Miss World takes the crown".

Sparrow Productions Limited headed by Shirley Frimpong-Manso have promised to bring a fresh approach to the structure and content of the event, while maintaining the basic essence and flavour of the pageant.

"We believe that the Miss Ghana winner as an Ambassador of our great nation, will add to our stature internationally and build on the effort of our government to grow the industry" says Shirley who also believes that within the shortest possible time, Ghana should be able to annex the World crown.

For Media Magique and Research Systems (MMRS), the franchise holders to hand over the organisation of the event to Sparrow Productions is an indication of the confidence they have in the company. The Managing Director, Shirley Frimpong-Manso, has been around the pageant for years as an MC and there is no doubt that she knows what to do.

When the Miss Ghana 2004 pageant is launched tomorrow at the Labadi Beach Hotel, it will be the signal for all stakeholders to know that the new phase of the pageant has become operational.
