Former Central Regional Chairman of the largest opposition NDC and Social Commentator, Bernard Allotey Jacobs, has asked the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and other critics to stop ‘attacking’ the Electoral Commission (EC).
The NDC has been criticizing the EC following its decision to compile a new voters’ register.
The EC believes a new voters’ register will be more credible and efficient than the existing one.
However, the NDC and other opposition political parties insist it is needless to compile a new voters' register saying the timing is wrong and it will be a waste of money.
Speaking to this on Wednesday’s edition of Peace FM's morning show ‘Kokrokoo’, Allotey Jacobs said, "no matter what we will still vote on 7th December . . . we’ve come a long way; let’s stop attacking the EC. The EC is a referee and its duty is to protect our democracy and declare a winner for elections. When will we respect the Electoral Commission that they are an independent body?"
