Ghanaian born hiplife musician Rashid Joseph has brushed aside media reports that he is engaged in the ‘sakawa’ trade.
"Sakawa" business literally means fraud or one seeking spiritual help to get rich quick which the hiplife artist does not want to be associated with.
Nhyiraba Kojo as he is affectionately called speaking on GH One television in Accra said he suspects the rumour was being circulated by his detractors, who are bent on tarnishing his hard earned reputation.
“I get surprised and shocked with these rumours people are speculating about. God has been so good to me. It is only God who can deal with my detractors.
“… Life has not been easy for me at all especially in Takoradi, I had to walk [several miles to watch a show because I didn’t have money for transport].”
To him, there is more blessing in giving than receiving, “but why are Ghanaians accusing me of being a fraudster”?
Nhyiraba Kojo explained that his decision to dole out money to his fans on stage is not borne out of malice, but his resolve to be kind to others.
Aside from music, Nhyiraba Kojo runs a restaurant and a clothing line.
