The sensational gospel musician, Nicholas Omane Acheampong, has said the current trend of gospel music has lost its credibility to as low as 20%. According to the ‘Aposor’ hitmaker, the old gospel tunes were carrying strong messages and touched with the spirit.

“The current trend of gospel music compared to the old tunes don’t carry any strong message and do not have any spiritual touch that can win souls for Christ”, he said to Mike2 on Adom Entertainment Hall.

In his view, most of the musicians sing for their own fame without producing songs that would win souls for Christ.

He said, the artistes have allowed themselves to be swayed into the ‘fashion world’ making fashion their main core leaving the word of God behind.

“Some of us have come to love the fashion, that’s, the dressing is too much and we are following other godly things in the world than preaching the word of God through our music – now most of our songs are not spiritually touched”, he said.

He mentioned some musicians like Daughters of Glorious Jesus, Yaw Sarpong, Elder Mireku among other big ones whose songs were carrying spiritual touch and good lyrics trended up to date.

“Most of us do not even have time to study the Bible to get inspirations, we just sing row and all is unnecessary dressing even though I am not against it but is becoming too much”, he stated.
