Inspirational singer, Nero X has alleged that most of the Nigerian artiste like Davido, Tekno, Runtown are doing highlife and rebranding it as afro pop.
He said contrary to the notion that he is a gospel musician, he is rather doing highlife and that highlife has many branches which reflect realities happening in society.
Nero X made these assertions on the 24/04/17 during an interview with the drive time show host of Radio Central 92.5Mhz, Amansan Krakye, in cape coast.
He said he was recently out of the country doing his European tour and the response was very encouraging. He claimed that though his tour was in the winter where the weather was not that favourable, yet a lot of people turned up for his concerts.
Responding to a question about his musical career being on a nosedive, he vehemently rejected the claim insisting that he is making the most out of his talent. He said he is soaring higher for his best is yet to come.
Nero X revealed that though he mentioned galamsey in his new song, assom ruff, he does not support the practice in anyway. Recounting his childhood days, he said he used to visit his sister at Prestea, a mining town and the dilapidating effects of illegal mining was evident.
He made known that with the devastating havoc and health related issues aside, galamseyers are not assured of survival should the dug out pits cave-in. He therefore seized the opportunity to applaud government and the media in their efforts to curb the menace.
Nero X made his breakthrough in 2014 with the hit song Osey and got nominated for the Ghana Music Awards. He has produced songs such as Nipa nua, Otan, Handkerchief, Frema, E be God, Nyame dadaw, Susupon dem, Forward ever, among others.
