Beautiful Ghanaian actress Nikki Samonas has initiated a move to positively affect the lives of over 10,000 school children across Ghana.

This is part of her efforts to give back to the society which contributed to her successful movie career. The sleek-looking actress has established a Non-Governmental Organization, ‘Help Them Learn’, to provide free exercise books to all Junior High School pupils nationwide.

NEWS-ONE sources say she is targeting 10,000 books for every district in Ghana. Nikki intends to start the project in Offinso South District next year, during first term of the school season. But what is not clear is how she is going to fund the project which is no doubt one of the best aimed at reducing the suffering of parents who find it difficult to buy books for their wards.

The actress was on TV last week Friday, virtually begging for support. She made her first appearance on eTV’s Late Night Celebrity Show with singer Chase. She took time to advertise her project and begged for support.

“I want to do this project to help the less-privileged children in acquiring knowledge. Because knowledge is power and education is the key to success, I want to embark on this project. Education breeds respect, enhances the chances of a better living. Therefore with my help, these kids can gain the knowledge to live a better life by applying that knowledge. With a little education, one can eat with kings,” Nikki told NEWS-ONE over the weekend.

Close sources to Nikki told this paper that some of her friends in the entertainment industry were trying to frustrate her efforts for the take off of the project because they also had similar projects in mind.

Apparently, a mafia group has been formed against her with the purpose of cutting down all sponsorship deals that she will get. Nikki is often described as a jack of all trades. She modeled and did a couple of TV commercials before entering the movie industry. She is currently trying her hands at TV presentation. At exactly 5pm every Sunday, fans of the actress can catch a glimpse of her on TV3 while she takes viewers through happenings in Ghana’s movie industry and beyond.

Dubbed ‘African Movie Review’, the show is about everything that involves movies including behind the scenes, movie premieres, red carpet events, celebrity news, latest movies in the market and movie countdown.

Born Nikoletta Samonas, she had a stint with Ghana’s movie industry a few years ago after she was given a minor role by Abdul Salam in ‘Beyonce.’ By then she was at the University Of Science and Technology. Later, she played lead in AA production’s ‘Pretty Queen’.

Some of the movies she has starred in include ‘Beyonce 1&2’, ‘War of Roses’, ‘Desperate Measures’, ‘Deadly Obsession’, ‘Pretty Queen’, ‘Wrong line’ and ‘Red Label’. “Acting was never in my plans. It was modeling. I started with advert modeling on TV before Salam brought me into the movies,” she once said.
