Goaso (B/A), July 3, GNA - A Circuit Court at Goaso has granted 20 million cedis bail with one surety each to nine suspects jointly charged with assaulting a couple at Bediako, near Mim in the Asunafo District of the Brong Ahafo Region. The Court further issued bench warrants for the arrest of seven other persons alleged to have attacked Madam Naomi Agyapong and her husband. The nine suspects pleaded not guilty and were expected to re-appear before the court on July 4.
Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Samuel Gbedemah told the court that the suspects and Nana Ama Osaah, Queenmother of Bediako blamed Naomi and Ante Ketewaa for spiritually killing one Paul Peprah. He said on June 10, a day after Peprah's burial at Bediako, the suspects attacked Naomi for allegedly seeking spiritual powers from Obuor Kyeremeh, a fetish priest at Techiman to kill Peprah. The accused persons beat and stoned Naomi until she became weak and unconscious. Insp Gbedemah said Naomi's husband was also beaten when he attempted to rescue the wife. Some sympathizers eventually saved Naomi, who reported the matter to the police at Mim.
