In separate chats with some admirers of the US-based musician who called The Mirror to enquire about arrangements for the funeral of the musician, they were unanimous in their call for a smooth burial ceremony.

“The family and indeed, all of us, should give Michael a befitting burial devoid of all the feuds that are created by some selfish relatives during funerals,” a fan who gave his name as Ebenezer Tetteh, told The Mirror.

Another admirer, who only gave Becky as her name, said, “I believe that some family members may want to ‘carry’ the funeral, but I am pleading with the family to ensure an incident free burial for the fine entertainer”.

Michael Dwamena passed away in a Texas hospital on Monday July 28, after complaining of stomach-ache.

A family source has told The Mirror that the funeral of the late musician will be held between October 3 and 4.

“There will be no wake. The body will be laid in state from 4:00 AM, October 4, at house number A235/20 South Odorkor Estates, near the Mays Educational Centre, Accra and later buried at the Osu Cemetery.

“A reception and the final funeral rites will be held after the burial, at the VAG Club House near the Immigration Headquarters, Accra,” the source added.

However, another source maintained that the family was yet to take a final decision on the venue for the funeral though the October 3 and 4 dates had been confirmed.

The source promised that the family would finally settle on an arrangement that would ensure that their departed royal gets a fitting burial.

The funeral of the late movie icon, Kwame Owusu Ansah, who died recently in a motor accident, was drowned in controversies that ran for weeks even after he had been buried.

The death and burial of the late movie star, Suzy Williams were also greeted with spats.
