Ghanaian media personality MzGee has opened up about her departure from United Showbiz, stating that she has no regrets about leaving the programme at a time when she was still highly appreciated by viewers.

Speaking in an interview with Nana Romeo on Okay FM on May 20, 2026, MzGee mentioned that she believes in leaving a role while people are still applauding your work.

“I get a lot of feedback that makes me satisfied and I feel like at least I did something there and that’s okay. I have a policy which says ‘leave when the applause is loud,” she said.

According to her, she does not miss hosting the entertainment show because she feels fulfilled with what she achieved during her time on the programme.

“I don’t miss hosting United Showbiz, but I’m glad the applause was loud when I was exiting,” she stated.

MzGee explained that after years in the entertainment industry, she now seeks new challenges because she feels she has already accomplished a lot within showbiz journalism.

The broadcaster noted that although she still receives offers to host entertainment programmes, she often questions what more there is left for her to achieve in that space.

“I don’t miss anything showbiz, sincerely, because I’ve seen and done it all. Now I’m looking for a new challenge for myself. I get people calling me to come and do showbiz, but I kept asking at this point, who haven’t I interviewed before? I’ve taken all the accolades, so there’s nothing to do again,” she shared.

MzGee also addressed criticisms she received during her tenure, particularly claims that she was too strict with guests and interviewees.

“From the feedback I got, some people said I was too tough with them. If you don’t want accountability, I don’t play with you,” she said.

She further criticized what she described as hypocrisy within the entertainment industry, where some media personalities are condemned for asking difficult questions while others are praised for doing the same.

“In our spaces here, people don’t want the truth. You could ask a question and you would be criticized, but another person will ask the same question and they will be praised. The hypocrisy is just too much,” she noted.

Reflecting on taking over the hosting role, MzGee acknowledged that she stepped into the shoes of a highly admired personality whom many viewers deeply respected.

She explained that although she did not come from a movie background, she respected the influence and popularity of the previous host, noting that some fans blamed her for the transition.

“I don’t think anyone can match the scale I brought on board. I was filling the shoes of a superstar. I have never done movies before and even if I have, I’ve never been popular through movies. I’ve sat down to enjoy the person’s movies and I was privileged to fill her seat,” she said.

MzGee added, “Even if that space is not her strength, she had a strength that she was bringing on board, which is the fact of the matter. Some people have idolized her and they feel I’m the reason she stopped hosting the show.”
