Global smartphone manufactures, Nokia are the proud sponsors of the 2018 edition of the ‘Accra Men’s Fashion Week’, Ghana’s only menswear fashion showcase which begun on the 15th and ends on the 16th of June 2018 in Accra, Ghana.

The Accra Men’s Fashion Week is a multi-day fashion showcase creating a platform for both Models and Men’s wear clothing & accessories designers to showcase new collections. The 3rd edition of the event has been dubbed the “Man it up 2.0,” following a successful Man it up edition last year.

Ahead of the big event on Saturday, a Fashion Business Seminar was held on Friday at Impact Hub to edify models and fashion designers on the benefit of technology to the fashion industry and to share knowledge on Men’s Fashion.

Speaking at the seminar, the West African Business Manager for HMD Global, Emmanuel Ossai laid emphasis on the need for fashion designers to build their brands through the use of technology.

He noted that, “Africans are highly fashionable people and Ghanaians easily embrace technology. The fashion industry leverages on innovation, we are proud as a company to be the sponsors of this year’s edition.”

He continued that, “Nokia android offers good services for the fashion industry, we have the best camera quality on the market, our latest feature on the Nokia 8 records live videos both front and back cameras that is unprecedented. The phone is sleek, has access to most apps and has a long lasting battery. “The type of pictures you upload on social media determines the number of followers and brand you create,” Mr Ossai stated.

On his part, the CEO of the Accra Men’s Fashion Week, Nana Mensah also advised all fashion designers and models to embrace Social Media as a medium to showcase their talent to the World.

According to him, Models around the world have created good brands thanks to technology. He told the fashion players to “buy a phone such as Nokia phones that can build your brand because there are people who have been able to earn contracts via Social Media because of some pictures they posted online.”

Estila Sean, one of the panels on the day also recounted how Social Media has helped fashionistas to earn customers around the globe despite their location in remote areas.

“Phones helps fashion designers to sketch designs, for instance, people give feedbacks anytime you post a design and by so doing you improve and learn from others around the globe. I know fashion designers who operate in unfavourable locations but through Social Media when they post their stuff people just buy them online. I encourage that we all brand ourselves and people will value us, but most importantly invest in your phones for quality pictures.”

The main event which is the runway show will be held at 7 pm on Saturday 16th June 2018 at the Ghana International Trade Fair Centre. Tickets are selling for 50 cedis regular and 100 cedis VIP and will be sold at the gate
