A new wave of artistes are emerging; these artistes are fast defying odds and assuming pivotal roles in ushering music made in the Savannah of Ghana onto the mainstream music markets across the globe. One such fine artiste is Nuru.

For a relatively unknown artiste to record with Ice Prince, Sirina Issah, Runtown, Atson, Cassper Nyovest and several others, one can only envisage the level of hard work Nuru is putting into attaining global domination.

Known in private life as Mac-Abubakar Abdul-Nuru, he has steadily endeared his art into the hearts of fans that span the globe.

Born on 29th March 1987 in Accra where he spent most of his childhood, Nuru later lived and completed his basic school education in Tamale; thus, attending three basic schools in total; Sakumono School Complex, Abe Halperin School Complex, and Kanvilli Presbyterian School respectively.

He proceeded to Prempeh College for his Senior High School education and studied for his BSc in Applied Biology at the University for Development Studies in Tamale. After his Undergraduate studies, Nuru continued to seek knowledge by taking up courses in Marketing, Public Relations and Advertising.

Emerging on the Ghanaian music scene as Gh-Xtreme sometime in 2012, the baby-faced rapper who now goes by the name Nuru has worked his way up the ladder of music with several singles and collaborations that are best described as strategically relevant.

As an artiste of Northern extraction, he appreciated the disadvantage associated with breaking through and so relied a lot on his strengths as an online entrepreneur i.e. Blogger and Publicist. Dabbling in a lot of blog related business has given him the needed insights into commercialising his art as a musician while working with the traditionally established media platforms that most musicians employ in ensuring their career goes beyond a studio booth.

The wealth of experience gained from being the boss of Mac Media Group Inc. as a publicist and major online promoter of brands, appear to have been an obvious influence in his choices by way of strategy as a musician.

After releasing Mali Zani ft. Edem, My World ft. Araya, Hawa ft.Hitla, Born To Win ft. Ruff N Smooth, and now his latest, In A Moment ft. At’son, Nuru has with each phase of his artistry achieved a feat no artiste from the savanna has achieved with the exception of Rocky Dawuni and Frank Delle.

From becoming the first and only Tamale-based artiste to get verified on twitter & facebook as at today, to becoming the first Tamale-based artiste to premier his first music video on MTV Base’ Spanking New show, one would expect that the brother takes a chill pill, but his energy level seems to have soared as he has initiated a huge media presence across the globe while pushing for more relevance in all media portals in Ghana.

With the release of “In A Moment” a mid-tempo Hip-hop/RnB produced by young Ghanaian producer, Flamez, and mixed by Possigee at MoB Studios, Nuru expects to become a chart topper both home and abroad.

The song which features another great act, At’son, has got the two young artistes delivering great vocals and impressive rap bars in Dagbani and English on an easy to listen to instrumental.

The music video accompanying this masterpiece of a song was shot in Ghana by videographer Mickey Johnson of Motion Eye Philms, has also got many taking a second look at the reality of work being put into today’s music emanating from the savanna of Ghana.
